Below is a complete list of all cartridge heater configurations. Cartridge Heaters are high temperature swaged units manufactured with magnesium oxide insulation. Every Thermal Corporation cartridge heater is a premium quality unit with an incoloy sheath which offers a higher temperature rating and higher resistance to chemical corrosion. These can be ordered standard or custom. Thermal Corporation cartridge heaters are made to your exact specifications, and all products are made in the USA!

Crimped Leads
Style CL

Flexible stranded lead wire is fused to the end of the solid conductor and electrically insulated with 2″ of high temperature sleeving.

Ceramic Bead
Style CB

Ceramic bead insulation protects the leads from high temperature environments (above 500°F / 260°C). The beads fit over the solid conductors which extend far enough to reach a cooler area where flexible wires can be attached.

Swaged Lead
Style SL

Internally connected leads offer maximum flexibility at point of entry to cap, allowing a high degree of flexing as well as the ability to bend the leads sharply adjacent to the cartridge heater.

Swaged Braid
Style SB

Stainless steel braid protects leads from abrasion or sharp equipment while allowing flexibility. Available with or without an eyelet.

Swaged Hose
Style SH

Stainless steel hose protects leads from abrasion on sharp equipment while allowing flexibility.

Post Terminals
Style PT

Post terminals provide a fast, neat connection to ring, spade connectors or bus strips. Threaded 10-24 studs are brazed to the solid nickel conductor. Available only in 5/8″ and larger.

Mica Disc
Style MD
Internally swaged leads. Provides a smaller unheated section allowing for shorter heaters.

Mica Disc with Braid
Style MDB

Stainless steel braid protects leads from abrasion or sharp equipment while allowing flexibility. Available with or without an eyelet.

Style MDH

Stainless steel hose protects leads from abrasion on sharp equipment while allowing flexibility.

Teflon Leads
Style ST

Internally swaged teflon leads seal and resist moisture and oil. Teflon rated at 480°F. We recommend leaving 1/4" of lead end sticking out of mold.

Teflon Leads with Braid
Style STB

Stainless steel braid protects leads from abrasion or sharp equipment while allowing flexibility. Available with or without an eyelet.

Right Angle Leads
Style NRL

Right angle leads offer high flexibility and are often used when space limitations are critical.

Style NRB

Stainless steel braid protects leads from abrasion or sharp equipment while allowing flexibility. Available with or without an eyelet.

Right Angle Hose
Style NRH

Stainless steel hose protects leads from abrasion on sharp equipment while allowing flexibility.

Copper Elbow with Leads
Style CE

Copper elbow offers right angle exit of leads used when space limitations are not as critical.

Style CS

Style CH

Mounting Flanges
Cartridge Heater Option - Style MF

Mounting flanges, made by your specifications, may be brazed to heater at your insertion length. Available with any configuration. Flange material is 1/16" thick.

Threaded Fittings
Cartridge Heater Option - Style TF

Threaded fittings provide fast, removable installation into a threaded hole. Silicone potting moisture seals can also be used in conjunction with the threaded fitting option. When ordering, specify brass fitting (Style TFB) or stainless steel fitting (Style TFS), unheated length, and if needed, water-tight.

Please note that the fitting may be placed flush with the end of the heater or anywhere along the length of the cartridge heater. We also offer Double fitting. Please contact Thermal Corporation for more information.

Distributed Wattage
Cartridge Heater Option - Style DW

Distributed wattage concentrates extra heat where it is needed. Useful to compensate for high heat losses along the edges of heated parts. Can have as many zones as watt density allows. When ordering, specify number of zones, zone lengths, and wattage distribution.

Multi-Zone
Cartridge Heater Option - Style MZ

For controlled heat zones. May have up to three independent zones. Can be added to Style CL, Style SB, Style SH, and Style SL.

3-Phase
Cartridge Heater Option - Style 3PH

For high amp applications. Available on most configurations. Some restrictions apply. Contact Thermal Corporation for more information.

Internal End Thermocouple
Cartridge Heater Option - Style JC or KC

Internal thermocouple junction is located at the end disc to monitor the material flow past the end of the heater. Comes grounded unless specified to be ungrounded. (JC specifies type "J" thermocouple. KC specifies type "K" thermocouple.)

Internal Sheath Thermocouple
Cartridge Heater Option - Style JB or KB

Internal thermocouple junction is located adjacent to the inside heater sheath to monitor the part temperature. Comes grounded unless specified to be ungrounded. (JB specifies type "J" thermocouple. KB specifies type "K" thermocouple.)

Double Fitting
Cartridge Heater Option

Used as a removal method. Offered in most diameters.

Strain Relief Spring
Cartridge Heater Option

Used in conjunction with braid. For applications with lead movement. Offered in most diameters.

Plugs
Cartridge Heater Option

Can be attached to most configurations. Please specify your plug when ordering.

Ground Wire

silicone boot covering for Thermal Corporation cartridge heater lead


The silicone boot is an extremely flexible silicone coated fiberglass braid. May be added over both leads or to each of the lead wires for protection against abrasive applications and/or handling. It is also resistant to moisture. Should not be used if leads are exposed to temperatures of 380°F or more!

ex flex covering for Thermal Corporation cartridge heater lead


The ex flex is a fiberglass sleeving impregnated with dielectric film of resin. It is not as flexible as the silicone boot, and can only withstand temperatures of 300°F. It does, however, provide great dielectric strength to withstand severe applications and/or handling.

*Some customers prefer to use both. In which case we will attach the silicone boot and then the ex flex is attached over the boot.
